Monday 24 September 2007--This year's trip will take me from Stonehenge to Callanish,
with new and old stops between: my first visit to Wales, the English towns of Salisbury and
Chester, remote Knoydart in Scotland on the one hand; and familiar Edinburgh, Plockton, and
Craigellachie on the other. Ron and Bobby will join me for a trek from Butt to Barra in the
Outer Hebrides, and an attempted ascent of Bidean Nam Bian, high above Glen Coe. Photography
is now digital. Mr Tattie Heid has been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
It's fitting, perhaps, that as I depart New England for Old, with Scotland my eventual destination, that my last view of North America in the gathering twilight should be of New Scotland--specifically, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Next |
