Saturday 23 October 2010--Another lazy day, the morning spent in. I manage to feel a little guilty as it seems to be a lovely day out, but not too much.

Plockton's front street backs up against a low escarpment, and some of the landowners have built terraces up above their homes, picnic spots with a view over the bay. These are accessible from a lane along the top of the cliff, and I take a walk up to check them out. I'm especially interested in the one belonging to Calum, the fellow who runs the seal-watching boat. His sense of whimsy is on display every evening, in the form of an illuminated phonebox high on the hillside, visible as I stroll across the harbor on the little walkway. It is non-functional, of course, as is the nearby urinal. Neither is up for civic adoption. Most peculiar is a fiberglass sculpture lying on the deck, of what can only be described as a passed-out naked fat chick. I guess she's pretty much non-functional, as well.

I have an afternoon pint of Trade Winds at the Plockton Hotel, then stop for a chat with Ross at the Haven. Then back to the B&B for a rest--it's been a hell of a day! Dinner and pints at the Plockton Inn, along with conversation with some walkers. Nightcap at the Haven. I've done very little in my two days in Plockton, and I'm perfectly happy about it.
