Thursday 29 September 2022--Contrary to the forecast, it's a lovely sunny
day. I'm late getting out, not quite trusting what I see out the window. Finally
head out and walk two miles or so to Beadnell. I want to check out the Craster
Arms, which I've seen many times from the bus, but have never been in.
No one can tell me why the Craster Arms is in Beadnell, not Craster; the
Bamburgh Castle Inn is in Seahouses, not Bamburgh; and the Dunstanburgh
Castle Hotel is in Embleton, not...well, there is no Dunstanburgh, aside from
the ruined castle. I think they're just screwing with the tourists.
I have a couple of pints in the pub's lovely back garden, then go inside for an
early dinner. Walk back to Seahouses just after sunset. I stay on the road--it's
high tide, and there isn't much beach. It's just happenstance, I guess, that I've
never run into that circumstance before. Nightcap at the Olde Ship.
