Sunday 18 September 2022--As expected, it's a dismal day, and I stay in for
most of it. Go for a walk late in the afternoon, and find myself atop the hill at the
southern end of Heimøya, looking across to the lighthouse on Hellandsøya. As
I zoom in on it with my camera, I can see the lady of the house shaking her fist and
spitting invective at me. Okay, not really, but I wouldn't have been surprised.
I stumble upon Trevarefabrikken, a hotel/café/pizza restaurant/bar in a former
fish factory. I scouted this place before my trip--it looked like a cool place to
have a pint or two--and then pretty much forgot about it. The decor in the bar is
pretty minimal--I'm not sure you can even call it decor--and the atmosphere is
industrial concrete. I like it, anyway; it's not much different from some of the
taprooms I've been in. The selection of beer is pretty skimpy, but there is at
least something drinkable. It's only open on weekends, so I won't be in again.
I planned a week in Henningsvær with the idea that I could afford a couple of
down days in case of bad weather, so today's day off is no big deal. On the
whole, I've been lucky. It wouldn't be a total shock if there was a full week of rain.
