Wednesday 18 October 2017--Drove over the bridge to Skye and caught the ferry at Sconser for the Isle of Raasay. Caught a glimpse of the new Raasay Distillery, which has been in operation for a month or so now, but isn't ready to receive visitors. Drove to the end of the road in the north, the last mile and three quarters of which is known as Calum's Road, after the man who built it single-handedly over a period of ten years. From Arnish, we walked two miles along a trail to the island of Fladda, accessible on foot when the tide isn't too high. Wasn't sure what we would find there, and was surprised to find several holiday cottages, along with a number of ruined croft houses. Met a couple who appeared to be pushing 80, preparing to sail away after their annual three-month stay. I guess they like each other. Turns out they knew Calum. We enjoyed the views to Skye, the Shiants, and the Outer Hebrides from the summit of the island before backtracking to Arnish.
Back in the Plockton Inn this evening, we chanced to meet the architect who has been working on the Raasay Distillery. It's been a very interesting day.
