Friday 20 October 2017--Ron and I have stayed in Fortrose a number of times, just because we like the Anderson Hotel. This year, for the first time, we booked two nights. Our plan for today was to take the bus into Inverness for a look around. As it happened, Mr Anderson was driving into town this morning, and he gave us a lift. I got to ride in the front passenger seat. It is difficult to explain why being a passenger in the wrong side of the car is so unnerving (aside from the fact that Mr Anderson drives very fast). It's something you just have to experience for yourself.
I've never liked Inverness much. It's too big to have small-town charm, and too small to have big-city excitement. There's a castle and a cathedral, but neither is very old (19th century). We did discover a pub we liked, however, the Castle Tavern, and that tends to dispose one toward a more favorable impression.
