Friday 26 October 2012--Another blustery day, mostly sunny with periodic snow squalls. I visit Telford's bridge on the Spey, and then walk two miles
to Aberlour on the Speyside Way, on a disused rail track. Cross the footbridge there and note that it's only another two-and-a-half miles to Archiestoun.
Not today, but next time, maybe. Lunch at the Mash Tun. I'm hoping to fill a bottle for myself at the distillery, but when I get to the shop, I find that
they're selling the hand-filled bottles right there. You don't get to bottle it yourself, and write out your own label, but I'm happy to grab one and go.
Poke around town for a while, have a pint at the Mash Tun, and then walk back to Craigellachie.
I have dinner at the Highlander, and after find myself chatting with a Japanese lad named Yutaro. His English isn't great, but it's miles better
than my Japanese. We have a fun time buying each other drams; one he buys, Ichiro's Nine of Clubs, leaves me agog. We end up at the bar, in a blether
with the chef, a chemist for Chivas Brothers, and a few others. I've overdone, I guess, but I can't think of a better way to spend a birthday.
