Wednesday 16 October 2013--I meet W at Costa for coffee this morning,
after which we visit Barter Books, a vast used bookshop housed in Alnwick's
long disused train station. "It used to be an old railroad station," W tells me. "It
still is an old railroad station," I tell her. She rolls her eyes. I see lots of volumes I
might buy, if only luggage weight were not a consideration.
We have lunch al fresco, under gray skies, in Alnwick's market square. Then W
goes on her way, and I go back to bed at the B&B.
I'm out late for dinner, at the Black Swan again, then check out the session at
the Fleece. Sort of a local folk club, I guess, geezers playing tunes. Reasonable
accompaniment for a pint or two.
