Monday 8 October 2018--When I arrived in Tallinn, I took the tram from the airport into town. All of the tourist literature I'd seen said to pay the driver on board, but the driver was behind a wall and I couldn't see how to approach him, so I never did pay. (It's mostly honor system, with spot checks.) Before I left, I asked around, and was told the same thing--pay the driver. So on my way out, I got on the tram, looked around, and still couldn't see how to pay. So again I didn't. Two stops along, police got on the tram and started checking tickets. Fortunately for me, I was up in the crowded end of the car, and they didn't bother wading in that deep. So here I am making my escape, with a view over Tallinn's Old City. I was picturing the police chasing my plane down the runway, like in Argo, after my two euro fare.
Flew into Stockholm, took the express train into town, and caught the connecting bus for the ferry to the Åland Islands. Under Construction Next |
