Saturday 13 October 2018--Took the train from Saltsjöbaden to Henriksdal, the bus to Slussen, the metro to Stockholm's central station, another bus to Nynashamn, and the ferry to Visby, on the island of Gotland. Visby (seen here from the ferry on approach) is a wonderful walled medieval town, an important link in the Hanseatic League. I walked half a mile or so from the ferry terminal to my lodgings, which were not Airbnb but of similar ilk, and found I had no way to get in. (Found later that instructions had been sent to my old AOL email address.) The kind gent at the crêperie down the street helped me sort things out--it took a couple of hours--and didn't even charge me for the coffee I had while waiting. I missed a couple of prime hours for exploring the town, but managed to find the Black Sheep Arms for dinner and a few pints.
