Wednesday 1 May 2024--After our morning blether with Brendan, Bobby drives us east along the coast to see a thing or three. First is the beach at Kinard, and the sea stacks along the nearby cliffs. Bobby isn't as mobile as he used to be, and so does not descend the rocky path down to the beach. Truth to tell, the footing going down looks kind of iffy to me--I'm not so sure-footed anymore, either--and the shingle below is not inviting. Ron's on his own.
Farther east along some back lanes, we see An Gráig, a standing stone that apparently split a couple hundred years ago; and then the Ardamore stone row, which has a lovely view over the valley. Then we are off west to see Cathair Deargáin, near several of the ancient sites we saw last year. Some sources call this a ringfort, and it does indeed have a circular enclosure, but apparently it's an eighth- or ninth-century farmstead. Within are the ruins of half a dozen circular structures, several of them clinging to one another like soap bubbles.
Somehow we end up at Kruger's again. One wonders whether the car, under Bobby's direction these past two weeks, knows the way on its own by now.
