Sunday 5 May 2024--I have a flight out of Cork this evening, so once again I'm in no hurry to leave town. I catch the train early in the afternoon for Mallow, where I change for one to Cork. It's a bit of a hike from the train station there to the bus station. Cork's a fair-sized city (pop ~125,000), and maybe would have been a better choice to hang out in for a couple days than Tralee, if I were at all ambitious about seeing stuff. Small towns suit me better, anyway. At the bus station, I learn that the airport bus departs from the curb (or kerb, if you prefer) about a block away. I find it boarding a short queue of passengers, good timing.
I have plenty of time for dinner and a couple pints at the airport before the flight to Edinburgh. I can't say I'm much impressed by Ryanair, but it's fine for an hour flight, and cheap as well. At the other end, I walk onto the tram just as the doors are closing, more good timing. I'm settled into my apartment just off Princes Street in time to go have a late pint at the Standing Order.
