Monday 13 May 2024--Take the train to Alkmaar, a town famous as a cheese market. It doesn't take me long to wish I'd stayed here instead of Hoorn--it's a lovely place. Wander along the canals and commercial streets and back alleys, and end up at Proeflokaal de Boom for dinner and a couple pints. I have a nice conversation with a British couple on the floating terrasse. I have to catch the train back to Hoorn eventually...yes, I should have stayed here.
