Saturday 14 September 2019--Grosse Île served as a Canadian quarantine station for arriving immigrants from 1832 to 1932. It is now a national historic site, with many of the facilities in various states of preservation. A memorial lists the names of everyone who died here. The large majority of them were Irish victims of the Black '47. 5,000 of them are buried in a mass cemetery.
