Monday 30 Sepember 2019--Aer Lingus takes a more southerly route than
the other airlines I've used in recent years. Departing out of Bradley
International Airport in Connecticut, I have views of Springfield, Boston, and
Cape Ann, Massachusetts; Yarmouth and Halifax, Nova Scotia; and St
Pierre & Miquelon, islands south of Newfoundland that belong to France, high
on my list of places to visit. Some places seem to wait on the list for years;
others pop up out of the blue and elbow their way to the front of the line. Åland
was one of the latter, just last year, and Volendam, as well. My glimpse of
Noord-Holland and the former Zuiderzee ports piqued my curiosity, so I'll start
this year's trip in that area, as preface to meeting up with Bobby in Bruges.
