Sunday 20 October 2019--We leave Plockton, up Glen Shiel, through Fort William and Oban, down to the island of Seil. From Ellenabeich, the village we're staying in, it's a short hop to the tiny island of Easdale. This is one of the Slate Islands, riddled with old quarries. One of the nearby islands was quarried out of existence, but the village on Easdale survives, with a population of 59, and even a pub (which unfortunately has closed early on a Sunday). It's a very peculiar place. Fortunately, there is another pub in Ellenabeich, where we have dinner and pints, and eavesdrop on the locals.
